Pamela Geller was living her life - a good life that suited her. She'd always believed she had the right to do anything she wanted, to take whatever path in life that suited her. That was how she was brought up. That was the message she got from family and society.
She was a strong outspoken active woman living a strong outspoken active life that was right for her, natural for her. She had no thought of getting involved with political stuff.
And then there was 9/11.
Once again she did what was right for her, felt natural for her to do. She posted comments on each and every blog she could find.
The beginning was small. But already she was shifting from being a person living a good life to a person engaged in something larger than herself - Islamism.
It was a friend who suggested the next step, that she should set up a blog of her own, and even brought her a blog template.
She hasn't looked back. She blogs every day - AtlasShrugs.com. She's become an incredibly prolific writer, widely visible, with a long list of credentials:
- founder, editor and publisher of Atlas Shrugs.com and executive director of the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) and Stop Islamization of America (SIOA),
Once she started, she just couldn't stop, didn't want to stop.
She documents daily - incident after incident of Islamist violence, mainstream media distortions, photos of Afghan soldiers beheaded by the Taliban (whom one can see rejoicing), a video clip of a smiling imam talking about the coming supremacy of worldwide Islam. Words from Shakespeare come to my mind: "One may smile, and smile, and be a villain."
The massive distortions, the media trashing of her, and the encroachment of Islamism - none of these make Pamela feel like giving in. Instead, she rejoices in the victories - like stopping the construction of the mosque that was supposed to go up near where the twin towers once stood. Like the 5th anniversary celebration of American Sheepdog, an organization out to ensure that the American lives lost in the Middle East will not have been lost in vain. Like the first international meeting, in early August 2012, in Stockholm, of counter-jihad groups.
On her blog, Pamela has a one-line bio: Evil is made possible by the sanction you give it. Withdraw your sanction.
Pamela Geller has definitely withdrawn her permission. She writes and writes, records and records.
