back to ... questions and answers
Definition of political correctness:
blind to facts, frozen like a petrified chicken.
Among top 10 fears: fear of death.
This is behind political correctness gone mad.
Fear denied. Cowardice denied.
And now, an award winner ...

The full story follows.
But first,
2 heroes -
Meir Weinstein and Pamela Geller

THE HEROS
Pamela Geller was scheduled to speak at the
Chabad Flamingo Synagogue in Thornhill,
right outside of Toronto's city limits, on May 13, 2013.
The main organizer for the event: Meir Weinstein
of the Jewish Defense League.
But then Islamic supremacist groups in Canada,
with willing aid from the Canadian police,
succeeded in getting the event canceled
due to police pressure.
A new location was found.
More on the story below.
But I thought it was worth starting with heroism -
people caring and daring to speak the truth
and not back down.
AND NOW, THE STORY IN BRIEF
The rabbi at the synagogue where Pamela Geller
was scheduled to attend was visited by
a police officer who threatened him,
according to many reports, with the loss
of his position as chaplain to the city's police force.
Not willing to risk job loss, the rabbi cancelled the event.

Commenting on the police action, Tarek Fatah,
founder of the Muslim Canadian Congress, said,
"What this incident shows is the depth of infiltration
of Islamists in the police forces, both in Toronto,
York Regions as well as the RCMP
[Royal Canadian Mounted Police].
One may disagree profoundly with Pam Geller,
but the police have no right to shut down
speaking events citing hate laws
when hate against non-Muslims
has become institutionalized in many city mosques
where clerics pray for the defeat of non-Muslims
at the hands of Muslims."

Excluded by the Inclusion Cops, By Mark Steyn
Pamela Geller, tireless campaigner against
Islamic imperialism was scheduled to give a speech
at a Toronto synagogue on May 13th.
Miss Geller is not a convicted terrorist
or terrorism-supporter or someone who argues
for the execution of all homosexuals.
If she were, she could speak at any
Canadian venue with impunity.

You can call it political correctness gone mad.
I don't think it is. I think political correctness is the symptom - a symptom of deep down terror, people terrified and generally not recognizing their fear, instead turning against those who tell truths they are afraid of acknowledging.
What's the definition of political correctness? For some it's being nicety-nice to everyone, not judging anyone, being all inclusive and lovey-dovey.
That leaves out the most important part of the definition of political correctness: blocking those who point out anything they're being pressured not to see, sometimes rage against those who point out anything wrong in any force or groups that is dangerous, almost always denigrating the politically incorrect (like by name-calling, instead of paying attention to facts).
Imagine a doctor raging at any suggestion that someone might have cancer, banning that person, silencing them. If this were a great way to cure cancer, that would be wonderful. It isn't. In fact, people are taught not to deny symptoms, are taught that the chances of cure go down as the disease progresses.
The politically correct deny facts, truths. That is crucial to any definition of political correctness.
But that leaves out why?
The only answer I have come to that makes sense is: fear. They don't want to fact whatever they would otherwise have to face.
In this case it isn't the danger of Islam to the West - though that danger definitely exists.
It is terror is Islamic anger, Islamic rage, Islamic name-calling. They don' t want to be called Islamophobes. They fear for their jobs, perhaps - because they have threatened others - as just happened to the rabbi.
They fear disapproval from colleagues and neighbors.
Much easier to recoil from this.
The world may end. But they have not had to face anger they dread facing.
Among the top 10 fears is the fear of death. So there is anger they don't fear - the anger of those who want truth. Our anger does not make them afraid of death - because we don't threaten violence.
Islam does.
Fear of death. I'd say that this fear, quite close to the surface in fact, is a biggie.
Among the top 10 fears?
I'd say it makes it to the top fears. Maybe it's even the top fear.
Fear doesn't protect people, by the way.
In fact, the frightened endanger all of us.
And now ... this week's Petrified Chicken award. Once again, it goes to
Police Chief Eric Jolliffe. He knows there's no need to fear the nice rabbi. A member of Eric Jolliffe's staff could threaten the rabbi and felt no fear at all. No fear, and it seems, no shame at his cowardly action.
Ughhh.
And once again, hats off to the heroes - Meir Weinstein and Pamela Geller.
